Our speakers have both grown professionally from being mentored and mentoring their co-workers and SMPS peers. Mentoring is vital in growing professionally, becoming a subject matter expert, and finding true joy in a job. Patricia and Laura often get asked how they have elevated their careers. The duo will bring real-life case studies where they have implemented mentor programs leading to proven success, decreased burnout rates, greater employee value, and an increase in job fulfillment. They are prepared to deliver actionable items that will benefit all levels of employees on how to unlock their irreplaceable value.

Speaker Bios:

Laura McDonald, CPSM

Laura provides marketing support and management for Terracon’s Gulf Coast Division. When called upon, she also supports large regional marketing efforts, federal data calls, client interviews, and award submissions. Working in the A/E/C industry for more than 13 years, Laura has gained most of her marketing experience in the engineering consulting field. She is passionate about mentoring, educating, and sharing with other marketing professionals so that they may elevate the role of a professional services marketer. She also serves as a mentor to members of the marketing team across the country and supervises two marketing professionals.

Patricia Mitchell, MBA, CPSM
Senior Marketing Strategist
Terracon
Patricia “Patty” Mitchell provides strategic marketing support nationwide for the Transportation and Logistic sectors. As a member of SMPS since 2014, she brings local industry knowledge where she has focused on developing the “perfect” pursuit process – including strategy, marketing collateral, leading proposal teams, and coaching for shortlist interviews. She has professionally developed through her mentoring relationships with professionals both inside and outside of the AEC industry. In being mentored, she has found confidence and purpose which have helped her improve and streamline collaborative processes. Her motivation stems from the ability to play a bigger role in the success of marketers in the AEC Industry.
